Business Overview

A solo exhibition of nine works composed by Soharu Kawashima will be held in recital-style by the "Gemiza Trio" composed by Takashi Matsudaira (baritone), Kiyonori Sogabe (trumpet) and Toshiro Nakagawa (piano). The songs performed are as follows.

Shimamanabu was invited as a director, the stage director Hideo Suzuki appeared on the stage in the new work, the producer Ayako Fukunaga participated as a shadow announcer, and the whole team including Katsuji Suga as a lighting director was mobilized.

Profile

Kawashima Soharu
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. He won the Akiyoshidai International Music Prize in 1992, the Darmstadt Kranigstein Music Prize in 1996, the Akutagawa Music Prize in 1997, the Kenzo Nakajima Music Prize in 2009, and the Kei Hitotsuyanagi Contemporary Prize in 2017. He has been involved in many projects and commentaries on contemporary music, including as a program advisor for the Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka. He appeared on TV Asahi's "Tamori Club" in September 2016 and "Tamenai Ongakkai" in November 2019 as a commentator on contemporary music. In addition to conducting the Ensemble Dongfeng, he has been involved in various musical activities, mainly his own and contemporary works. He is the vice president of the Japan Composers Association. Associate professor at Kokuritsu University of Music, lecturer at Tokyo University of Music and Shobi Gakuen University.
