2015 Social Support Grants through Arts and Culture

Business Overview

We will conduct research on the people involved that will contribute to reducing self-denial, hold public events where the public can see and hear opinions, and receive comments from Satoru Saishu, a leading theorist on disability. In collaboration with the Moscow International Film School, the students will be aware of the challenges they face in their research, and will also be able to express themselves through drama. Collaboration between the two parties, who share a common awareness of problems but are at the same time in different societies and cultures, has the meaning of broadening perspectives and relativizing problems. In addition, in these theatrical performances ("Oresha" and "Parrot Training"), we will receive advice and talk from Junko Kurashina, a director and actor who has many theatrical experiences with the disabled, women and the elderly. In addition, we plan to have an opportunity to interact with the general public and receive a wider range of comments and reactions. By becoming aware of the problem, reconsidering it from a broad perspective, sublimating it in theatrical expression, and obtaining comments from the audience, it leads to a reduction of self-denial.
