【 Performances 】 Conductor: Tatsuya Shimono Choir: Tokyo Mixed Choir Piano: Michiko Asai Organ/Electone: Kumi Otake Percussion Instruments: Akikuni Takahashi, Hirofumi Kato ■ Pizzetti: Requiem for 12 Unaccompanied Mixed Voices (1922) ■ Akira Miyoshi: Torus II (1961, commissioned by Tokyo Mixed Choir) ■ Bruckner: Motet Collection ■ Teizo Matsumura: Hymn of the Dawn (1978, commissioned by Tokyo Mixed Choir) 【 Purpose 】 Tokyo Mixed Choir invites internationally active maestro Tatsuya Shimono as conductor. Shimono was born in 1969. In 2001, he won the Besançon International Conductors Competition and came into the limelight. Currently, he is active internationally in the fields of opera, ballet, etc. mainly in orchestra. He has performed with the Tokyo Mixed Choir in orchestral works with chorus, and this is his first time conducting mixed chorus alone. Shimotsuke's deep knowledge of all musical fields has drawn attention to his challenge of new choral art.

Profile

Tokyo Mixed Choir
A professional choir representing Japan, founded in 1956 by graduates of the vocal music department of Tokyo University of the Arts. With concerts at the center of his performance activities, he works to develop and spread choral works in a wide range of fields. Their activities number more than 200 performances a year. The repertoire includes 207 pieces created through commissioned composition activities since its foundation, as well as all choral works from Japanese and foreign classics to contemporary works. In 2007, he received the Suntory Music Award and the Kenzo Nakajima Music Award.
