Business Overview

Gagaku, which has been handed down for more than 1000 years since the Heian period, will continue to develop for hundreds or 1000 years in the future, and in order to expand the scale of activities of this organization, which is celebrating its 30 year anniversary, this project aims to expand the audience, including children, and the number of spectators. The aim is to create programs and works that will allow children, who are the bearers of the next generation of culture, to meet and become familiar with gagaku. ◆ Project Outline (1) Gagaku Concert for Children "Ponta to Kaminarisama" composed by Sukeyasu Shiba, Bugaku, Gagaku commentary, Shoka experience, Gagaku musical instrument introduction and performance, Shosoin restored musical instrument introduction and performance. (2) Production of CDs of gagaku works and DVDs introducing gagaku for children (on the market and donated to libraries in Tokyo) (3) Commissioning new gagaku works for children and performing them for the first time "Gagaku works for children" composed by Harunao IZA (new works), etc.


[First Year Project Overview]

(1)Reigakusha Gagaku Concert for Children Contents: To let children and people who listen to Gagaku for the first time know what Gagaku is like and to expand the audience of Gagaku in the future. In the first half, we will explain the instruments and the unique learning method called shoka, and briefly introduce representative kangen and bugaku works of gagaku. In the second half, gagaku works with narration are performed so that the audience can enjoy the sound of gagaku. During the break, there will be a musical instrument experience corner where visitors can actually touch the instruments. Profile

It was established in 1985 for the purpose of ensemble and research of gagaku. Music director: Sukeyasu SHIBA. In addition to the current classical pieces of Gagaku, he is actively engaged in the reproduction of abolished pieces, the restoration of Shosoin instruments, and the performance of modern pieces. In addition to performing twice a year independently, he has been invited to major halls in Japan and has also been invited to festivals in America, Europe and other countries to introduce gagaku. In recent years, he has held many workshops and performances for children and people who listen to gagaku for the first time, which have been well received.
