FY 2025 1st Regional Arts and Culture Activities Support Grant

With the aim of creating an environment in which anyone can experience and participate in local arts and culture, as well as revitalizing and promoting local communities through arts and culture, the Regional Arts and Culture Support Subsidy provides partial support for project costs for arts and culture activities that promote the cultivation and development of unique cultures in each region within Tokyo, as well as efforts to hand down local cultural assets and resources to the future and disseminate their appeal both inside and outside the region.

Application Guidelines

Implementation period of the target project

Projects beginning on or after April 1, 2025 and ending by March 31, 2026

The program covers public art and cultural activities in Tokyo (Performances, exhibitions, art projects, etc.).
(1) Project for Utilizing Intangible Folk Cultural Properties
Art and cultural activities that contribute to the stable succession of Tokyo's intangible folk cultural properties (those designated, selected, and registered by the national or local government) to the public
* Please note that this project applies only to intangible folk cultural properties, not intangible cultural properties.
(2) Projects for Utilizing Tangible Cultural Properties (Buildings) and Historical Buildings
Artistic and cultural activities that utilize tangible cultural properties (buildings) in Tokyo (designated, selected, and registered by the national or local governments) and historical buildings in Tokyo to enhance their attractiveness
(3) Projects for Utilizing Regional Cultural Resources
Artistic and cultural activities that discover cultural resources in specific areas of Tokyo and make them take root in the local area. In addition, arts and culture activities that utilize cultural resources that have already taken root in the community to pass on and develop them
(4) Projects to create cultural attractiveness in the community
Arts and culture activities in Tokyo in which local people participate to enhance the cultural attractiveness of the community
* General festivals and events organized by neighborhood and shopping associations are not eligible.

Application Category/Maximum Application Amount

[Category 1: Maximum grant amount of 500,000 yen]
・ The amount of grant application shall be 500,000 yen or less (there is no lower limit).
- You can apply for the first project.
・ Up to 1/2 of subsidized expenses will be subsidized.
[Category 2: Maximum subsidy of 2 million yen]
・ The amount of subsidy application shall exceed 500,000 yen but not more than 2 million yen.
Category 2 targets projects in which a large number of people (1,000 or more) can come into contact with and participate in local arts and culture.
- The applicant group must have hosted the same project in the same area at least once.
・ Up to 1/2 of subsidized expenses will be subsidized.
* From FY 2025, all consumption tax and local consumption tax will not be eligible for subsidies. Please be careful.

* Notice of system suspension period
From Wednesday, January 29, 2025 to Sunday, February 2, due to system maintenance, you will not be able to obtain the application form or log in to the grant online system. The data of application documents created and temporarily saved before the maintenance period will be retained, but please note that you cannot create application forms or make inquiries on the system during the maintenance period. *Projects co-sponsored or affiliated with facilities managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture are not eligible for subsidies.
* Projects sponsored or co-sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan History and Culture Foundation and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, or projects that have received or are scheduled to receive subsidies, subsidy, subsidy, commission fees, etc. from the Tokyo Metropolitan History and Culture Foundation and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government are not eligible for subsidies.

◆ Number of applications (number of applications accepted): 71 (32)
In FY 2025, 19 organizations made applications for the first time, or about 30% of the total. Applications were made for a variety of venues, including local halls, stores, old folk houses, temples, and parks. Applications were made for projects that were not limited to performance genres. Of the four business categories, approximately 60% and 20% of the respondents, respectively, chose "projects to create regional cultural attractiveness" and "projects to utilize regional cultural resources," indicating that there are many initiatives to enhance the cultural attractiveness of each region in Tokyo. We look forward to applications for projects that utilize existing regional cultural resources, intangible folk cultural assets, and tangible cultural assets that are not widely known, and that will be inherited and developed.
From this fiscal year, the handling of the consumption tax has been changed, and the format of the budget document has been changed. However, there were some businesses that prepared the budget document in the previous format and some applications that had blank spaces in the uploaded document. Please reconfirm the documents after uploading.
