Business Overview
The first solo exhibition of Oku, a new knife design. Oku is a knife with a distinctive creased handle created in collaboration with skilled craftsmen in Tsubame Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, a metalworking town with a history of over 400 years. It won the Dezeen Awards in 2022. At the exhibition, wooden boards made in collaboration with Karimoku Furniture, a representative wooden furniture manufacturer in Japan, will be exhibited together with Oku. Oku also exhibited a collection of British and Japanese objects that inspired his designs, a poem he created printed on Japanese paper, a scene from his studio reproduced in one corner of the gallery, and a video work expressing the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures.

Profile
[Kathleen Reilly]
Scottish artist/metalsmith. After studying metalwork and jewelry at the Glasgow School of Art, he graduated from the Royal College of Art in England. In 2019, he went to Japan as a recipient of the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation and trained for 2 years in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture. Currently based in Tokyo.
