Business Overview
Focusing on filmmakers who continue to produce and screen their films in the face of difficult circumstances, three programs were screened: “Myanmar (Light Eaking from the Underground), ” which was the outcome of a workshop held with the aim of fostering young filmmakers amid the restricted daily lives of the military coup d'état;“ Russia (Confrontation with the Fatherland), ” by Russian filmmakers who went abroad in opposition to the war in Ukraine; and “Congo (Congo Sasa), ” a selection of works depicting the actual situation of Congo, which has been exhausted by civil war and continues to be in chaos. In addition, a symposium "Where are movies made? - Filmmaking in a crisis" was held to promote understanding of the background of the work. Four speakers who were involved in the selection of each program: Mormie Meizachi, Vladimir Nadein (Russia), and Rio Nerki (Congo, United Kingdom), along with filmmaker Mugabo Bariteguera, took the stage. Kiyoeko, who was also involved in supporting Myanmar's democracy movement, served as moderator.

Established in 1971 as the Underground Center, it was renamed the Image Forum in 1977. Started cinematheque activities in 1972, showing mainly experimental and independent films. In 1977, he established the Image Forum Film Research Institute to train filmmakers while also distributing films. The film festival "Image Forum Festival" was started in 1987 and has continued to this day.
