Business Overview
■The Producer Series: Masahiro Miwa's "Gamelan" is a series in which the producer of the year introduces his works from his unique perspective on contemporary music. In 2023, Masahiro Miwa, a composer who continues his transformative activities such as algorithmic composition, was invited as a producer, and together with Art Collective KITA and Gamelan Group's Margasari, they tried not only the conventional concert style but also the "project type" concert simultaneously to express "Gamelan Cosmology". During the exhibition, not only will he perform in concerts and projects, but he will also cross the streets of Indonesia, the home of gamelan, inside Suntory Hall. With the venue set as if you had visited the venue, the premiere of new works, evening parties and food stalls were held, and Suntory Hall became a square where the world view of Miwa Masahiro was embodied with the sound of gamelans. ■ Suntory Hall International Compositions Commissioned Series No. 45 (Supervisor: Toshio Hosokawa) Theme Composer Olga Neuwirth This series introduces orchestral works commissioned from composers active at the forefront of the world. This time it will be Olga Neuwirdt (1968~), who was the first female composer in the history of the Vienna State Opera to perform the opera "Orlando" commissioned by the Vienna State Opera in 2019, and became a worldwide sensation. "Orlando World," a new work based on this opera, was performed for the world premiere as a commissioned orchestra work. Conducted by Mathias Pincher (2021 theme composer), a close ally of Neuwirdt's who premiered Orlando in Vienna. In addition, Neubild's works will be introduced through orchestral and chamber music programs. In addition, the composition workshop, in which works by young composers were invited from the public, was a valuable opportunity to learn how to approach Neubild's music.
