Business Overview

From May 13, 2022 to May 26, a solo exhibition by Chinese-born Tokyo-based artist Lily Night was held at Sony Imaging Gallery. Until last year, she was working under her real name, Zhou (Chinese reading: Zhou, Japanese reading: Shu), but she gave up her name as she was called and published a photo collection under a new name to reflect on her own temporality. In this exhibition, we deepened the previous concept and presented a planar work that experimentally tried to decompose and construct images by using straight photographs, digital drawings, organic solvents, etc., regarding the relationship between analog and digital experiences in vision.

Profile

[LILY NIGHT]
Visual artist. Born 1988 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. After studying and working in Japan and England, he is now based in Tokyo. With an awareness of the relationship between personal memory and collective memory, he has presented works through photography, drawing, collage, video, text, and installation. Seeking the existence and traces of individuals that are lost in the market economy, he works to create works that transcend commercialism and the sociality defined by the mass media, and bring awareness to a broader sense of circulation and the universe.
