Kafka's masterpiece "Transfiguration" will be performed as the third performance commemorating the 385 year anniversary of the founding of the Yuki Theater. Keita Shirai, an up-and-coming director of Onsen Dragon, reveals the nature of human beings by depicting their thoughts and internal changes when faced with unimaginable circumstances, and expresses the absurd world of Kafka's works in synergy with the puppet art and puppeteers of young artist Natsuko Tanihara. [Edo Itoayatsuri Ningyo Yuki Za]
During the Edo period when Japanese culture flourished, the first Magosaburo Yuki founded the company in Nihonbashi in Kanei 12 (1635), and it became a company authorized by the shogunate. Magosaburo YUKI the 13th currently serves as the leader. Under the slogan of "two wheels of classics and new works," he has been deepening the classics and traditions, while also projecting the spirit of social satire and avant-garde on the stage in contemporary theater. It has performed not only in Japan but also in dozens of countries around the world, and is the only Itoayatsuri puppet theater company in Japan that has been designated as an intangible cultural property of the nation and Tokyo.
