Business Overview
The festival began in 1996 with the aim of promoting choral music in Japan and promoting choral activities as part of culture. 2022 will mark the 26th anniversary of the festival. In its original form, it consists of 2 pillars: introduction of choral music from around the world and reconfirmation of Japanese choral culture. However, this year as invited lecturers were not able to come to Japan, we held 2 concerts: "Opening Concert: 240 Light Years of Sound - The Way of Coming and Future" and "Yamato Uta no Ketsuyaku XI: Monument of Song - Listen to Tohoku". In the former, three choral conductors, who have long been leading the Japanese choral world, planned the program by themselves, and captivated the audience with a program that looked back on the past and looked to the future. In the latter, the theme of the concert was Tohoku, as in the previous concert, and this time, works that depict the beautiful original scenery from the customs, traditions, and folk songs of the Tohoku region were collected, and the beauty and charm of the Tohoku region were reconsidered. Among the various choral works, Tsugaru-jamisen by Takahashi Chikuzan II and piano improvisation by Oda Tomomi added flair, and the performance ended in a whirl of applause and emotion.
