Business Overview
[Outline of the overall project] We will conduct as much field research and interviews as possible with dancers and dancers around the world, building cooperative relationships with individuals and groups involved in domestic and international dance activities. We will also propose a common format for archiving records of past activities and build a database based on the survey results. From these activities, an international network of archives will be established. Utilize the results of the survey and hold discussion platforms and symposiums. They will also produce and present works using archived materials. [Year 1 Project Outline] ■ Buto Archive Research Questionnaire Survey Summary A survey was conducted on the activities of 125 dancers in Japan. As a kick-off event, "Kitasenju BAP Night" was held. Date: February 10, 2018 midnight - 11th morning Venue: Kitasenju BUoY ■ Reconstruction Trial Performance "The Sick Dancer" (based on Tatsumi Hijikata's "Sick Dancer") Date: February 9, 2018 - 11th Venue: Kitasenju BUoY Takao Kawaguchi Tomomi Tanabe Two Solo Works/Takao Kawaguchi Digital 3D in Motion VR Exhibition (Outline of Year 2 Project) ■ Reconstruction Trial Performance "Green Table 2017" Date: September 5, 2018 - 6th Venue: Goethe Institute/Tokyo German Culture Center Choreography: Toshiko Oka Art: Kaoru Hironaka Appearance: Ensemble Zone, Yu Kakio, Kentaro Sato Special Appearance: Keito Ono As a joint event, books and images on "German Expressive Dance" were exhibited in the lobby. ■ In the domestic and overseas dance research, we surveyed the activities of 405 domestic and overseas dancers. ■ In the operation of the Butou Archive, we developed a system for building a digital archive. [Outline of the third year project] ■ Performance All About Zero Date: June 8, 2019 Venue: Theater X Nohgakushi Kanji SHIMIZU listened to the screenings, talks, and performances of Hironobu Oikawa, Mamako Yoneyama, and Keito Ono. In addition, Akumi Kihinoki, a professional mime and jiuta dancer, performed small works. They created opportunities to exhibit on stage and interact with the audience. ■ Symposium & Performance "What is Dance?" Based on the results of a two-year survey, we will discuss what dance is today. Date: February 11, 2020 Venue: Studio Plus (small hall), Hibiya Library and Culture Museum Performer: Taro Mukai Unpanelists: Nobuko So (Teruschikor) Kazuhiro Tateishi (Gekideki) Based on the results of a questionnaire survey, an attempt was made to approach "buto" whose outline is still uncertain, and "what is buto" was examined from both a performance and a symposium. ■ Butou Digital Archive [Production of test page in December 2019/Full-scale operation of archive site on March 27, 2020] A digital archive was constructed using a new system, and a part of the materials archived by Kazuo Ono was released online. Know-how on building a digital archive of dance acquired through this activity will be disclosed, and the entire dance archive will be digitized and made available online. The system design and archive concept were done in collaboration with Human Human Promotion and Pixel Lab.

our association aims to contribute to the inheritance and creation of world dance culture and its further development and dissemination by collecting materials on contemporary dance activities for the general public, preserving them using digital technology, and making them available to the public through performances, exhibitions, publications, the Internet, etc., supporting dance research and creation using these materials, and developing and practicing them. In addition to accumulating archives, we will develop archival methods utilizing advanced technology, plan and produce contents utilizing archived materials, and at the same time, build a network of dance archives in Japan and overseas.
