FY31 (2019) 1st term Creation Grant [Single-year grant program]

Business Overview
Set in Shinagawa-juku, a post town on the old Tokaido, a documentary experience program was created at venues rooted in the community, such as an izakaya with red lanterns, a book cafe, and a temple with a 400 year history. Documentaries are essentially a genre of expression closely linked to people and society. Considering that it is difficult to convey the essence of the story only through one-way media such as television and film, we provided a place where the main character as the subject and the strongly motivated producer directly interact with the audience and express their own story through images and performances. This year's theme, the third of its kind, is "listening to voices that are often buried in society." From "Immigrant Karaoke," in which the songs of immigrants living in Japan are unraveled, to those who are concerned about "whether developmental disabilities really matter," to accounts of their interactions with so-called "terrorists," such as Somali pirates and bomb makers, people who are dealing with diverse social issues took the stage one after another, revealing the current times.
