Business Overview

In 2017, a series of solo exhibitions of the works of the composer Soharu Kawashima was launched in the form of recitals by people and groups closely related to Kawashima. In the 2nd performance in 2018, Yoshiko Kanda, a percussionist who was in the same year as the university alumnus, will make an appearance. She will perform the revival of her work (False works that were rejected or resubmitted) submitted in the 1st year of the university for the first time in 26 years and will perform the complete version, as well as 2 previous collaborative works and her latest work.

Profile

Kawashima Soharu
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. He won the Akiyoshidai International Music Prize in 1992, the Darmstadt Kranigstein Music Prize in 1996, the Akutagawa Music Prize in 1997, the Kenzo Nakajima Music Prize in 2009, and the Kei Hitotsuyanagi Contemporary Prize in 2017. As a program advisor for the Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka, he has been involved in many projects and commentaries on contemporary music. In September 2016, he appeared as a commentator for a special feature on contemporary music on Hokkaido TV's "Tamori Club." He is also involved in a variety of musical activities, including conducting, piano, percussion, and voice, focusing on his own works and contemporary music. He is a director of the Japan Composers Association. Associate professor at Kokuritsu University of Music, lecturer at Tokyo University of Music and Shobi Gakuen University.
Yoshiko Kanda and I were classmates at university, and we have been engaged in musical activities together for 27 years.
