Business Overview
The purpose of this project is to propose, visualize, and solve problems related to the dissemination of expanded piano-playing works (Prepared pianos, internal playing, live electronics, etc.) from the perspectives of musicians, hall managers, and researchers. The main members are Goko Inoue (pianist), Susumu Shono (musicologist), Yuji Ito (composer) and Yaeko Kurosaki (representative of the applicant group). This project was carried out by two pillars of workshop and research. In the third year, we expanded the activities of the Hall Research Division within the Research Division and established a system to directly influence the improvement of the environment in which expanded piano playing techniques can be practiced. Some projects were postponed for a year to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. In the final year, we held a symposium and a briefing session on all activities by each division to date. We also prepared a booklet entitled "Guidelines for piano management during extended piano playing" (downloadable from the official website of this project) and held a meeting to report on it. The project's official website "Extended Piano – All about extended piano playing: An experiment in piano music for the future" was opened to the public and all the project's activities were disclosed.
