Business Overview
Commemorating the 150 year anniversary of the birth of Masaoka Shiki, a poet and poet of the Meiji period, this is a contemporary opera performed by a room orchestra that recites and sings haiku and tanka as arias, tracing Shiki's life and achievements, with a focus on his friendship with his close friend Soseki. The work is a departure from conventional Western operas, expressing the wabi-sabi culture of Japanese literature through heterophony and advocating the creation of a unique Japanese opera culture by fusing the world of haiku and tanka with classical music. Script, composition, direction, and conductor: Sakuzo Sendo Script supervisor: Ichiro Fukumoto (Professor Emeritus, Kanagawa University, scholar of Japanese literature) Performers: Akihiro Oka (Graduate School, Tokyo University of the Arts, 1st place in the 44 Italian Vocal Concorso, etc.)/Yukei Shida (PhD, Tokyo University of the Arts, 1st place in the Vocal Section of the Japan Music Competition, etc.)/Kei Kondo (Senior Graduate School, Kokuritsu University of Music, member of Nikikai)/Yuji Shida (Graduate School, Tokyo University of the Arts)/Juri Tanaka (Graduate School, Tokyo University of the Arts)/etc.
