Pina Bausch's "Spring Festival," "PHILIPS 836 887 DSY"/Germaine Acony's "Homage to the Ancesters" performance in Japan
Business Overview
In collaboration with international partners such as London (Sadler's Wells Theatre) and Paris (City Theatre of Paris), 35 dancers from 13 African countries re-present "Festival of Spring," which was first performed by the Pina Bausch Wuppertal Dance Troupe in 1975. The Visiting Company was composed of over 50 multinational members from 20 countries, including performers and staff, and delivered messages that resonated with the age of diversity and a diverse society both in Japan and abroad.
Pina's early solo work "PHILIPS 836 887 DSY" and "Homage to the Ancestors" choreographed and directed by Germaine Acony, the "mother of African contemporary dance" are presented simultaneously (both premiered in Japan).
Related events included a talk by Salomon Bausch of the Pina Bausch Foundation and a dance workshop by Germaine Acony.
