ART FAIR TOKYO 20 「FILMS」

Business Overview
"FILMS" is a project that aims to develop a three-tiered program of "viewing, learning, and buying" centered on visual works, and to create a multi-tiered contact between artists and visitors, and to preserve knowledge on visual expression as a resource that can be continuously referenced. The market share of video works is only 1% worldwide, and distribution is limited even in Japan. This project was planned based on the recognition that it is necessary to reconsider visual works from multiple perspectives of viewing, understanding, purchasing, preservation, and inheritance, and to develop an environment that supports their distribution and acceptance.
Under the curation of non-syntax, this program entitled "Art and Film? The future of images that cannot be defined in words" was screened by approximately 10 artists including Mine Hayama, Yuki Hirakawa, and Hiiragi Yonezawa at the venue on the 9th floor of Hibiya, Tokyo Midtown. In addition, a talk program was held in which Hidenori Okada, Yusuke Shono, and others took the stage to discuss issues related to the history, production, preservation, succession, and distribution of video works. In addition, interviews with experts in Japan and overseas were posted on the special website in an attempt to share the knowledge and practice of visual expression with visitors, collectors, archivists, and planners. As a result, this project was intended not only to be an exhibition and screening during the exhibition, but also to serve as a reference frame for future projects related to visual expression.
