July to December 2026: 8 meetings in total
Venue
Meet/Eat/Culture “Ochiau ” (4 -16-1-101 Ochiai, Tama-shi, Tokyo), various locations in Tama New Town

Hands-on training program for art projects

This is a practical training program in which you learn about art projects in your community. We aim to create a symbiotic society in which art and culture can be enjoyed by everyone in the places where people live by connecting the community and people through art through the development of cultural leaders who are active in the community.
A place for human resource development that connects practitioners active in the community with those interested in art projects fosters the next generation and creates opportunities for the community as a whole to become familiar with art and culture.
The special feature of this project is the practical learning experience with art and cultural organizations that are rooted in the local community. It will be a place to learn how to build relationships with local communities and conduct art projects through exercises.
Through this seminar program, students will discover "their own way of approaching cultural activities" and build a foundation for taking action and continuing to be involved in cultural activities in society.

This year's field of study is Tama New Town.

In FY 2026, Tama New Town will be used as a field. Today, there are many creators and artists working in this area. They practice artistic and cultural activities while closely relating to the community through their daily lives.
Tama New Town is a place where art and culture are loosely connected, and it is rich as a soil for nurturing cultural leaders.

Exercise program "Tama no New Town Study"

In fiscal 2026, we will conduct the Tama New Town Study in Tama New Town.
Studio Megane, an architectural design firm based in Tama New Town, is in charge of planning and production as the secretariat of this hands-on learning program with three mentors who practice cultural activities in the Tama area.
Together with their mentors and the secretariat, the students are involved in the local community as a "Yokomichi Collective," a team that considers cultural practices, and through group work and discussions with guests, they discover their own ways of engaging in art projects. Through these exercises, participants deepen their interest in the local community, gain access to the perspectives of practitioners working in the field, and gain experience in implementing projects on their own.
