Business Overview

Under the theme of Japanese Canadian history, dancer Emiko Agatsuma and fourth-generation Japanese mask artist Miya Turnbull collaborated to create a dance performance that explored important factors such as cultural identity, immigration and intergenerational differences. By shedding light on the overlooked history of immigration, it presented an opportunity to think about how to coexist in modern society. My wife stayed in Halifax, Canada for about three months and conducted a questionnaire survey of Japanese Canadians, from which she choreographed the dance. During his stay, he also held six dance workshops, which contributed to broadening the awareness of dance. Miya created a new mask for this work. Newcomer Gozu Mezu (Sugiyama Hitoshi) was in charge of the music, creating original music and performing live. In addition to the stage, he also used social networking services in both Japanese and English to disseminate information about the creative process to the world.
