FY2023 1st Term Grant for Artistic City

Business Overview

We, the executive committee, held the third marching parade with the hope of bringing moisture and hope to people's hearts. With the cooperation of the local community, traffic was restricted for about 1 km on the 4 lane road. In addition to local teams, about 1000 people, including Tokyo's leading marching band, performed and attracted more than 20,000 visitors. We believe that marching, which captures the hearts of people, is a march for peace and culture, so we tried to communicate this to the world by broadcasting live on the day and making announcements in English. In addition to marching, other genres such as wadaiko (Japanese drum) and kizukari (woodwork), which dates back to the Edo period, were incorporated to create new attractions. We are determined to make the Hachioji Yokoyama Minami Marching Festival a beacon of hope that will light up the region, and to continue to play a part in disseminating the charm of Tokyo and its culture and arts from Hachioji, the western edge of Tokyo, to the whole country and the world. Performing organizations: Tokyo Fire Department Band, Nihonbashi Junior High School Brass Band, Tokai University Takanawadai High School Brass Band, Tokyo Jitsugyo High School Marching Band, Hachioji High School Brass Band, Soka Renaissance Vanguard, Hachioji Fire Service Association, etc.

In May 2024, we overcame the COVID-19 pandemic and held our third marching parade, which has been well received by many people.
