Business Overview
When it comes to gagaku, nobles in the Heian period come to mind, but we cannot forget the Edo period as the period when gagaku revived and flourished. The third shogun Iemitsu revived 'Seikai ha' (Blue Sea Wave) at Nijo-jo Castle for the first time in approximately 200 years, while the second son of the eighth shogun Yoshimune, Munetake TAYASU, immersed himself in the study of gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) and attempted to restore it, leaving an enormous amount of scores. Confucian scholars were also interested in gagaku, and Sorai OGYU found the flute score and lyrics of 'Akifuraku' written on the back of a paper, and sang it with a biwa (Japanese lute). In the first half of this concert, we introduced these attempts, and in the second half, we played a part of the Eichu Kangen that was played at Edo Castle in Bunsei 6 (1823) by court nobles, musicians of Sanpo, and Momijiyama musicians, and introduced a part of the gagaku that was full of energy in the Edo period. < Program > Bugaku Seikaiha Kangen Shogu tone Anrakukyoku (from "Kyoku-ko Appendices" by Munetake TAYASU) Akifuraku edited by Sorai OGYU (from the lyrics of "Koto Yobo") Bunsei 6 (1823), from Edojo Ryuei Kangen: Ryozo tone, Saibara 'Sekiden,' Tokyu Zangaku Ritsuhei tone, Manzairaku (Enshi byoshi), Saibara 'Isekai (shi byoshi),' Gojo Rakukyu performed at Reigakusha in cooperation with planning and replayed music by Toru ENDO (professor of Tokyo Gakugei University).
