Business Overview
In Machida City, there are areas related to the Kamakura samurai and the army of farmers. Daisen-ji Temple in Shimo-Oyamada-cho contains the graves of the Oyamada family, who are said to have been powerful vassals of the Kamakura shogunate. There is also a legend in Naruse that Yoshisada NITTA saddled a pine tree to let his horse rest when he attacked Kamakura. On the other hand, in Onoji-cho (Onoji-mura at that time), Isami KONDO, Toshizo HIJIKATA, Soji OKITA and others are said to have attended training in swordplay at the end of the Edo period, and thereafter the Onoji Farmer Corps was formed and swordplay and gunnery training were actively conducted. The Machida Jidai Matsuri is held every October as a festival where you can feel the history and culture of the region while thinking about the samurai and farmers of Kamakura.
