Profile
[Rion Nyaya]
Born in 1998 in Gunma Prefecture. At the end of her third year, she started attending ballet classes and learned classical ballet from Noriko SEYAMA. When he was in elementary school, he saw Pina Bausch's work for the first time and was greatly shocked. At the same time, she learned the basics of contemporary dance from the dancers of the Wuppertal Dance Company, Seyama Atsusaki and Fabien Prioville, and witnessed the creation of works. After experiencing various genres of dance such as jazz dance and character dance, she entered the dance education course of Ochanomizu University. While studying at the university, she focused on Pina Bausch, and appeared in the works of various choreographers such as Takeshi Nomi, Ikumi Kurosu, and Harasaori. He is currently working as a DaBY resident artist.
He started to create his own works while he was still in school, and in 2021 he won the Best New Choreographer Award at the Yokohama Dance Collection. He has continued his creative activities since then. Through the creation of his works, he is searching for a true sharing of ambiguous areas such as a string of words before they have meaning, and the state of the body before the choreography was born.
[room. Onaya Rion]
Established in January 2023. The aim is to create a work based on improvised developments in the practice room. Many materials such as water, soil and cloth are used to bring about a real feeling, and through the feeling of the skin when touching them, the tension and relaxation of muscles are generated, leading to the choreography. In addition, there are many theatrical elements in the work, in which the relationship between people and objects changes according to their arrangement in the space.
