Business Overview
Four performances over three days of unaccompanied contrabass by Yamamoto Masashi, a contrabass player whose theme is "What can I do with just myself and the instrument ..." It is a contemporary work, and two programs challenge the limits of solo performance. Last summer, in collaboration with the composer Philippe Boivin in the south of Provence, this theatrical masterpiece "ZAB" was re-examined with its eccentric ideas, and this performance is the first in Japan, passing over 40 years. It also premiered a new work commissioned by two of Japan's leading composers, Kinoshita Masamichi and Morita Tainoshin. In addition to the Japanese premieres of recently composed works by the French genius, Jan Robin, a collection of highly distinctive solo contrabass masterpieces by John Cage, Jacob Druckmann, Satoshi Hitotsuyanagi, Masaru Fujikura and Hinako Takagi were also presented. With the addition of lighting direction by Seiji Hayakawa, who elevates the performance and space to the extreme, in the atelier Q Geijutsu, where you can hear even the breath of the performer, it became three days where "one person and one contrabass" lead you to another world.
