Business Overview
This international film festival specializes in short animated films made using stop-motion techniques, such as puppet animation, paper cutting, and clay animation. Its main goals are to discover new talent, nurture talent, and foster the next generation through interaction between audiences, production companies, and those supporting stop-motion animation. The International Competition invites Norwegian director Anita Kiri, and the international jury includes leading Japanese stop-motion animation artists Tsuneo Goda, Yuichi Ito, Mari Miyazawa, and Moeji Tsuchiya. The screening program includes exclusive screenings of films from Dwarf, Japan's largest stop-motion animation studio, the award-winning TECARAT studio, a special feature on Japanese stop-motion master Kihachiro Kawamoto, and Katsuo Takahashi, who has been active since the early days of the genre, as well as popular international feature films and feature films unreleased in Japan.
