Business Overview

An open studio exhibition featuring new paintings by Ryunosuke Goji will be held. Through public production, we demonstrate the uniqueness of highly fluid hand-kneaded oil paints, which are different from oil paints in tubes that can be applied thickly while the brush texture remains. The painting field of oil painting, which made it possible to construct a screen space by applying thin and highly transparent paints, will be reexamined from a modern perspective by retracing the history of the materials together with the materials of paintings in the exhibition room and literature. The motif, a cluster of tropical plants, is painted with the loose and fluid coloring of hand-made oil paints, seeking a new view of the painting.

Profile

Ryunosuke Goji
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1988. In 2013, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. He continues to make paintings mainly based on tropical plant species. In recent years, commercially available tube paints have been eliminated from the study of the history of painting materials, and hand-kneaded self-made paints are used for production. This paper explores the physical properties of hand-kneaded paints, which are different from tube paints, and the possibility of modern painting.
