Profile
[Denchuzu]
"Denchuzu" was formed to make the Tanaka Residence a place for new art creation, transmission and exchange by young artists who gathered together with the NPO Taito Historic City Research Society, which revives historical living and culture centered around Yanaka and Ueno Sakuragi, and the general incorporated association Yanaka no Okatoe, which connects people through art and culture planning. The Taisho-built house and studio where the sculptor Hirakushida Chu, who pioneered modern sculpture in Japan, lived and created many works, is being revitalized, and activities are being developed to foster a core of expression and exchange between the artist and people of the region and the world.
