Business Overview

Local performing arts are an irreplaceable part of local culture, and their inheritance and development is one of the issues for local governments. In conjunction with the Tama River, which is the biggest symbol of the Tama region, the local governments of the Tama River basin, Fuchu City, Chofu City, Hino City, Komae City, Tama City, Inagi City, Kosuge Village, and Tanbayama Village, cooperate to hold the "Tama River Basin Local Performing Arts Festival," in which local performing arts compete. The purpose of this festival is to promote exchange between the Tama River basin and revitalize each local government. In fiscal year 2023, a total of eight programs were performed: "Hayashi" by the Shinjuku Branch of Fuchuhayashi Hozonkai (Fuchu Hayashi Preservation Society), "Hayashi" by the Kamifuda Hayashi-ren (Chofu City Folk Performing Arts Festival Hayashi Preservation Society), "Hayashi" by the Hino City Festival Hayashi Federation, "Oyahashi" by the Iwato Hayashi Preservation Society, "Wadaiko" by Wadotsuzumi Seiseki Kozakura, "Hayashi" by the Seiwei Hayashi Preservation Society, "Kagura" by the Konagata Kandai Kagura Preservation Society, and "Shishimai" by the Tanbayama Village Cultural Properties Preservation Society.

Profile

[Tama River Basin Folk Performing Arts Festival Executive Committee]
The Tama River Basin Folk Performing Arts Festival Executive Committee was established in 2000, the 30 year anniversary of Komae City's establishment, with the Raft Race Executive Committee playing a central role in deepening exchanges between Kosuge Village, Tanbayama Village, and Okutama Town in Yamanashi Prefecture through the "Komae Kodai Cup Tama River Raft Race," a summer tradition of Komae. At the Tama River Basin Folk Performing Arts Festival, local performing arts that make use of the characteristics of each participating municipality are presented and introduced, and local specialties are introduced in the form of product exhibitions, in an effort to convey the appeal of the region.
