Business Overview

"The Hat and the Prophet" by Ghassan Kanafani, one of the leading writers in Palestinian literature. Translated by Maho Watanabe, starring Hiroshi Naito, Shinji Yamaguchi, Hanano Takizawa and others. This work is very theatrical and has become a kind of metaphor in which an unknown "thing" talks. The themes of the work are discrimination and prejudice, conflict and lost diversity. The other, from 2002, is Raja Shehadeh's documentary-style monologue about the Israeli invasion of Ramallah in the Palestinian Autonomous Region called "When the Birds Stop Singing - Occupied Ramallah," translated by Toyoji Yoshihara and starring Takahide Tashiro. By comparing the two works, we would like you to understand the changes in Palestine. We decided to perform the play in the hope that it would be an opportunity for Japan, which is in a safe zone, to raise issues, think, and have a dialogue. Both of the two plays are first performed in Japan and the direction is Miyuki Ikuta.
