Business Overview
Ballet Chambre West “Luna Tsuki no Monogatari Kaguyahime ” was inspired by Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo (Nishikawa Furuyanagi Theater) ’ s national designation as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property in 2022, and seeing her performing from her hometown to the world. Based on the relationship of trust between the two, who have shared the same goal of artistic improvement and cultural inheritance since their collaboration in 2004, planned a re-performance and held a creative ballet with the goal of contributing to the improvement and development of local culture even more than the previous performance. Based on Taketori Monogatari, the theme is a love story that connects the moon (LUNA) and the earth, and the story continues where a daughter KAGUYA, who repeats folly in the moon world, sends her to the earth to study the mind of the human world, and Kuruma puppets play important roles as an old man and a wife who welcome KAGUYA on the earth. The work, which was first performed in 2008, was revived with a view to the maturity of the work, enrichment of the succession activities, and revitalization of the region. In order to continue the honor of receiving the Excellence Award of the Arts Festival by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2011, the music, art, costumes, and choreography were revised and performed with the aim of artistic improvement.
