Business Overview

This three-day exhibition was held from June 21, 2019 at the tea house Ikaruga-an and Seikei-tei in the garden of Nezu Museum. Tripletraveler, an artist unit composed of Yosuke Mandai, Yu Nishimura, and Ryohei Usui, organized this event under the name of the Three Travelers Tea Party. Installations exploring the connection between the tea culture and the characteristics of each artist, such as contemporary wabi, miyage, and the view of the four seasons, were placed in the waiting room, mizuya, and teahouse, and matcha was served by the tea master Munekuni UEDA at the end of the viewing.

Profile

[Ryohei Usui]
Born in 1983 in Shizuoka Prefecture, lives in Tokyo. Making full use of different mediums, he presents works that can be said to be the modern version of "Mitate," which change the "view" of things that already exist, with things that are familiar to us as the main characters.

[Triple traveler]
A collective formed by Ryohei Usui, Yu Nishimura and Yosuke Bandai in 2017. Nishimura Yu was born in 1982 in Kanagawa Prefecture. He creates concrete paintings that are transparent and abstract. Bandai Yosuke was born in Tokyo in 1980. He is known for his series of photographs of decayed objects, such as the 'Lid no Ana' series.
