Business Overview
Kamigata mai and Shimai no kai. The festival was held with the theme of performing dances based on tradition and adding the thoughts and expressions of people living in the present day, and for modern audiences to enjoy. First, after a commentary by Tanshi MURAKAMI, the koto kumiuta "Hienkyoku" by Wakashoki YAMAMURA was performed. He performed koto kumiuta in the Edo period for the first time in this performance. The choreography was by Wakasaki YAMAMURA. The songs and koto were played by Yuji KIKUO. Next, a shimai, "Aoi no Ue," performed by Nohgakushi Bunzo OTSUKI, a Living National Treasure and Person of Cultural Merit. Finally, Seiki YAMAMURA performed jiuta "Aoi no ue." The song and shamisen are played by Yuji KIKUO. The contrast between koto and shamisen, between Chinese and Japanese, and between noh and kamigatamai was created.
