Business Overview
This is a public exhibition of two Japanese and German contemporary artists. Aika Furukawa [Contemporary art/painting] installed her works on the wall. Improvised direct painting on the wall using acrylic paints + installation of about 10 flat works. Agnes Lammert (Contemporary Art/Sculpture) mainly places her works in space. A large three-dimensional work made of silicon material (suspended from the ceiling) and a sculpture made of wax made in Germany were installed using iron bars. Drawings made in Japan and Germany were also shown. After a series of discussions on the identity of East and West, public works (installations) were made. The event was held at HIGURE17-15cas, an alternative space with few restrictions and active exchange with the local community, with the aim of becoming a place for international cultural exchange. Profile
Aika Furukawa (Contemporary Art and Painting)
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1982. 2008: He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts (Oil Painting Department) of Tokyo University of the Arts. From 2012 to 2015, she stayed in Germany under the overseas training program for artists provided by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Pola Art Foundation. Grants received from Germany and Japan in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. He is currently active in Tokyo, Leipzig (Germany) and Brussels (Belgium).
His main motif, which he has been painting since 2007, is the "wrinkles on bedding and pillows" that are actually part of everyday life. These wrinkles are combined to create an unseen world. Through installations such as hanging transparent paintings in the exhibition hall, viewers are drawn into the works.
[Agnes Lammert (Contemporary Art and Sculpture)]
Works mainly in former East Germany. Like Furukawa, she creates sculptures with the motif of "wrinkles and folds of cloth," but her characteristic is the expression that evokes "something existing" hidden in the cloth. Lecturer at the Leipzig University of Printmaking and Bookbinding Arts (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig), public collection: Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig
