Business Overview

This is the second solo exhibition of the works of Yuji Takahashi, a leading Japanese composer and pianist who will turn 80 next year. The program includes early works from the 60's, which are said to have been lost, as well as recent works and world premieres, and follows the footsteps of the 80 year-old composer with the audience.

Profile

[Yoichi SUGIYAMA (Planning and Conducting)]
He studied music with Akira MIYOSHI, Franco Donatoni and Sandro Golli, and conductors with Emilio Pomarico and Morihiro OKABE. Commissioned by the Milan Musica Festival and the Venice Biennale, his works include chamber music by Tokyo Genon Keikaku and Kunko Kato, Japanese music for Kazue Sawai and Nanae Yoshimura, and choral works for the Tokyo Mixed Choir. He received the Italian Copyright Association Prize, the Keizo Saji Prize of the Suntory Foundation for the Arts, and the 68 Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists. As a conductor, he has performed in Japan including the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and premiered a new opera at the Reggio Emilia Cavallerica Theater. He teaches at the Claudio Abbado Conservatory of Milan.
