Business Overview
Flamenco was born in Andalucia, Spain, where songs were deeply connected to people's lives and culture, and danced and played with musical instruments. Fascinated by flamenco, Ishikawa Ayako went to Granada on her own and worked with local artists for 25 years. Through Masamichi Shibasaki, a Japanese dancer he met in Spain, he was exposed to Japanese traditional performing arts once again. He felt that folk songs and flamenco had something in common. He played the songs of the Goze to members of his flamenco group, Kika Quesada (dancer), Rafael Martos (dancer), Manuel Heredia (singer), and Marcos Palometas (guitar), and even though they did not understand the lyrics, they were moved to tears. The project was supported by young Japanese folk song hopefuls Akimi Fukushi (singer) and Kazuyuki Yabuki (shamisen player). With respect for the origins of their country's performing arts, contemporary artists express themselves in their own interpretations and compete on the same stage, eventually forming a trend.
