Business Overview

The project name "RAISU/Rice" is based on rice, which is a staple food in Japan and Mexico, and starts with rice, which is a common point in both countries but is received differently. Seki Kaori performs a new work with the aim of exploring the similarities and differences between them and leading to a search for contemporary dance expression. In the process from creation to performance, Seki and six dancers (Three Japanese, three Mexicans.) stay in each other's base cities and, in addition to creating in studios, conduct contamination, a program to exchange artistic, cultural and symbolic customs and knowledge. The time spent sharing their cultural backgrounds, new values and experiences enabled deeper exchanges, sympathies and collaborative work. As a new project model for international collaboration, the project aimed to serve as a catalyst for further exchange between Mexico and Japan through contemporary dance.
