Business Overview

Japanese Itoayatsuri ningyo (puppet theater) (ningyo joruri) is a puppet theater with a theatrical quality that is unique in the world. However, since there is no permanent hut, it is not possible to see classical performances all the time. Ittoshi-za was looking for a way to make Ningyo Joruri plays, which were brought up by the common people, more accessible and affordable to the public. Last year, they performed Ningyo Joruri in Kodaira City, where the troupe is based, using a preserved Edo-period building called Furusato Mura. This year, a performance is planned at the Hirakushi Tanaka Museum of Sculpture in the same city. By performing Ningyo Joruri at the Tanaka-kan, which is loved by the citizens of Kodaira, we hope that local citizens will come to see the Ningyo Joruri and that it will lead many people to know about Tanaka-kan and Itoayatsuri dolls. ◇ Program: Date Musume Koi Hikako Grocer Oshita Yoshihisa ◇ Cast: Ningyo Yuki Hitoshi Yuki Tamiko Yuki Keita Kaneko Tensho Negishi Marina (Itoayatsuri Ningyo Hitoitoza) Joruri Ayanosuke TAKEMOTO Ayaichi TAKEMOTO Shamisen Sanju TSURUSAWA Yaya TSURUSAWA (Gidayu Kyokai)

Profile

"Itoayatsuri Ningyo Hitoshi-za/Hitoshi YUKI"
< Hitoshi YUKI >
He was the third son of Magosaburo YUKI (the deceased), the 10th head of the Yuki-za.
Succeeded to the third Kazuito YUKI in 1972. It became independent from the Yuki-za Theater in 2003 and launched 'Edo Itoayatsuri Ningyo-za Theater' in 2005. In 2015, the name was changed to 'Itoayatsuri Ningyo Hitoshi-za' (Itoayatsuri Ningyo Hitoshi-za), which has existed up to the present day. In addition to the classical works of Edo Itoatsuri puppets, he has worked on works by Kenji MIYAZAWA, Euripides, Bataille, Brecht, and Artaud. He has also performed overseas and received high acclaim.
In 2015 he was invited by the University of Bologna, Italy, to perform "Classics and Arto 24:00 Excerpts Again" under the theme "Tradition and the Avant-Garde". At the same time, a workshop for students and an open symposium with Arto researchers were held over three days. He has been producing experimental plays one after another through the new discovery of classical puppets and collaborations with people who transcend the field of new works.
