Business Overview
A new project, "Android Opera Scary Beauty," was announced as a public program of ALIFE 2018 (International Society for Artificial Life), which gathers artificial life researchers from around the world. The project is a collaboration between researchers such as Hiroshi Ishiguro, a world-renowned robotics researcher, Takashi Ikegami, a complex systems researcher, and artists such as Keiichiro Shibuya, a musician. Alter2, an android that exudes a sense of life through the interplay of chaos, autonomy, and artificial life, conducts (28 member orchestra consisting of students and alumni of the National University of Music) an orchestra of real people. They sing and sing in concert with the performance. It is a comprehensive artistic presentation that focuses on real-time and multi-layered interaction between androids and humans on top of cutting-edge academic research. Concept, direction, music composition and piano by Keiichiro Shibuya. As the name "Scary Beauty(= strange, eerie beauty)" suggests, he created a strong and unique world view that mixes awe and emotion.

Profile
【渋谷慶一郎】
音楽家。1973年生まれ。東京芸術大学音楽学部作曲科卒業。
2002年に音楽レーベルATAKを設立、国内外の先鋭的な電子音楽作品をリリースする。これまでに数多くの映画音楽やサウンドインスタレーションを発表。2012年には、初音ミク主演による世界初の映像とコンピュータ音響による人間不在のボーカロイド・オペラ「THE END」を発表。同作品はパリ・シャトレ座での公演を皮切りに現在も世界中で公演が行われており現在も上演要請が絶えない。2018年にはAIを搭載した人型アンドロイドが人間のオーケストラを指揮しながら自ら歌う、アンドロイド・オペラ「Scary Beauty」を発表。
これまでにパレ・ド・トーキョーでアーティストの杉本博司、ロボット研究者の石黒浩と、パリ・オペラ座でエトワールのジェレミー・ベランガールとなど数多くのコラボレーションを発表。世界的な人工生命の研究者である池上高志とは15年に及ぶノイズや立体音響による協働、開発を行なっている。
現在は東京とパリを拠点に活動を展開している。
