Business Overview

This is a one-day event where you can enjoy the two traditional cultures of "Nohgaku" and "Rakugo" at once. The lighting at night is made from bamboo that grows naturally in the temple and processed into lanterns, which are placed on the stage and garden to create an ethereal world. Before a Noh performance, a mini lecture is held by a Noh actor and highlights are explained. Nohgaku is an event that can be enjoyed casually by people who tend to think that nohgaku is too difficult or those who see it for the first time. Main performers: "Rakugo" Ichinosuke SHUNPUTEI, "Noh" Jiichi ASAMI Staff: Noriko KAWAHASHI Rika ASAMI Program: Part 1: Solo performance by Ichinosuke, Part 2: Mini lecture, Noh "Momijigari"

Profile

Rakugo (traditional comic storytelling): He was promoted to shinuchi with an exceptionally large selection, beating 21 performers in only 11 years after he became a disciple of Ichinosuke SHUNPUTEI. His unique style of storytelling attracts rakugo fans.

'Noh': Jiichi ASAMI, a shite-kata Noh actor of the Kanze school. He is a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property.
He studied under his father, Mataka ASAMI, and the late Tetsunojo KANZE, the eighth. When he was three years old, he made his debut in the shimai (dance) 'Oimatsu' (old pine). He has participated in many overseas performances, Shinsaku-Noh, Fukyoku-Noh and movies. He supports the Yoyogi Kachokai (Yoyogi Noh Association), which his father presides over, and regularly gives hands-on lectures and performances at the Yoyogi Noh Stage.
