Business Overview
[First Year Project Outline] (1) Tokyo Deaf Film Festival Forum - Thinking about the possibility of Deaf Film Festivals - Content: By providing a forum to share information on Deaf film festivals around the world and activities of Deaf creators with interested parties, we contributed to improving the quality of film creation and support activities of Deaf creators and filmmakers in Japan. In addition, through a conversation with the executive committee chairperson of "Shizooka x Cannes Week," who collaborated with TDF in May this year, he explored the synergy effect created by cooperation between different fields and suggested the possibility of creating a place for mutual understanding between the hearing and the deaf. Date: November 3, 2018 Venue: Cinema House Otsuka (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) (2) DeafFilm Camp (DFC) invited lecturers Close WS Content: In order to hold a film production workshop for students with the Deaf in the summer of 2019, we invited lecturers (Micheal Kaufer/Storm Smith) from DeafFilm Camp (DFC), a film camp for the Deaf that is held every year in the US, and learned workshop skills and management by experiencing the actual flow of the workshop. Date: January 11 (Fri) –14 (Mon), 2019 Venue: Totto Bunka Kaikan (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) [Year 2 Project Outline] (1) The 2nd Tokyo International Deaf Film Festival Project Description: The festival was held as a continuation project in collaboration with the local community as an "open film festival" in which directors who are responsible for the future of deaf films will communicate to the world. Over the course of 5 days in Shibuya, with a variety of guests interspersed with talk events, approximately 20 films will be screened, including films shot from the perspective of the deaf from Japan, Asia, Europe, America, etc., films that approach the deaf, films that were submitted publicly, and films with Japanese subtitles that have never had Japanese subtitles. The establishment was attempted by continuously providing a place to transmit films from the perspective of the deaf and a place to promote the development of deaf film art and human resource development. Date: Friday, May 31, 2019 – Monday, June 3, 5th (Wed) 5 days Venue: Eurolive, etc. (Shibuya, Tokyo) [Outline of the 3rd Year Project] (1) Deaf student filmmaking workshop The workshop was held by inviting Deaf filmmaker Jason Roberts, who won the Audience Award at the 2nd Tokyo International Deaf Film Festival, and filmmakers Mika Imai and Akito Imai, who are active in Japan. Through workshops to experience filmmaking, which are not usually offered, we sought to develop creative students who will lead the next generation of culture, as well as those who do not usually have the opportunity to do so, by creating a place where Deaf people can experience their imagination and creativity, enhance their communication skills, and create free ideas. Through filmmaking and discussions after watching the films, the participants learned about values different from their own, found their own perspectives and ideas, and collaborated with people they do not normally interact with to create something until the end. The development of Deaf film art and human resource development were promoted by providing opportunities for those concerned to positively grasp the potential unique to the Deaf. Date: August 8, 2021 – August 21 Venue: Online (2) Tokyo International Deaf Film Festival Forum 2021 Content: Reflecting on the activities and journey of the Tokyo Deaf Film Festival Executive Committee, films made by participants of the Deaf Film Production Workshop 2021 Basic Course were shown. In addition to discussing the meaning of holding the Tokyo Deaf Film Festival in the post-COVID-19 era and the dissemination of works, the participants shared the future prospects and challenges of the Tokyo Deaf Film Festival Executive Committee.
