FY 2017 Tokyo Culture Program Grant: Support for Citizen Creative Cultural Activities, Phase 1

Business Overview
Tamasudare is an ordinary bamboo screen that can be manipulated to create various shapes. It is often misunderstood that it was born in Nanjing, China, due to the familiar nankin tamasudare, but it is a Japanese performing art that was popular throughout Edo. This time, Tamasudare performers from all over the country will gather, both professional and amateur. In addition to promoting Tamasudare, which is undergoing further evolution, we will create opportunities for people of all ages and wheelchairs to learn it as "Japan's most affordable traditional art." Main performers: Enya Tsukudagawa (chairperson of Oedo Tamasudare, a company), Masakazu Ose (a Gokayama bamboo dance master), Toshiaki Ueshima (a local performing arts researcher), Hisayo Kitami (an entertainer), Ryusei Ueguchi (a magician), Shunputei Pikkari (a rakugo storyteller), performers Tenohira, Reiko Takahashi (a Tokyo Metropolitan Heaven Artist), Yoko Tachibana (a street performer), and others
