FY 2016 Tokyo Culture Program Grant: Support for a project to build momentum

Business Overview

Since its establishment in 2000, with the slogan "Toward the Future of Cinema," it has maintained its stance of "proposing a new trend of cinema." Since its establishment, this activity has introduced artists such as Apichatpong Weerasetakun from Thailand, Kim Ki-duk from South Korea, Ja Jang-koo from China, Ryusuke Hamaguchi from Japan, and others who later won top prizes at Cannes and Venice (Hamaguchi won the Best Actress Award at Locarno). With the idea that "film festivals are a means of nurturing artists," the festival gathers innovative works in Tokyo for screening.
