Business Overview
Theater troupe Sample will participate in Taiwan's Votage-2016 Kuandu Arts Festival for the first time with “Takeoff ” (premiered in Tokyo in 2015). It will be the first time for the troupe to perform overseas. With the theme of "transcending boundaries," Matsui Shu continues to present works that sharply cut into contemporary issues such as homosexuality, gender transition, regenerative medicine, and religion. This film is based on Natsume Soseki's Gyonin and depicts the end of a changing love triangle with three actors including Ito Kim.

A theater group managed by Shu Matsui (playwright, director, actor). Matsui Shu's style of seamlessly and strangely driving his actors and crew through his obscene and mythical world fragments has won him a strong following across generations.
Shift and Burning Calories have been translated into French, Basement into Italian, and Proud Son was translated and staged at Ohio Northern University in 2013.
His Passage (2004) won the 9th Japan Playwrights Association Newcomer Drama Award, and His Boastful Son (2010) won the 55 Kishida Kunio Drama Award.
Participated in Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale Land Art Festival in 2012 and 2015.
