Business Overview

The event will feature high-level performances of three pieces of traditional Japanese music, from classical pieces to modern pieces, performed by key members of the association. The program consists of a wide variety of pieces, including modern pieces such as' Okina '(Old Man) and' Aranda Banzai, 'which are classical pieces but rare for concerts,' Shinmusume Dojoji (Kanegamisaki) 'and' Shochikubai '(pine, bamboo and plum), which are played together by the Ikuta school and the Yamada school,' Shichifukujin '(Seven Gods of Good Fortune) with musical accompaniment,' Poetry 'composed by Tadao SAWAI, and' Chikuseki Hibiki 'composed by Michiyama FUJIWARA (a work commissioned for this concert). Performers include Living National Treasures such as Fumiko Yonekawa, Shoin Yamase, and Seikin TOYAMA, as well as top executives of major association companies such as Junsuke KAWASE, Hiroko NAKANOJIMA (vice president), Akitoki AOKI (Executive Director, the same shall apply hereinafter), Namino TORII, Misoshi NOSAKA, Shoin HAGIOKA, Chiyoga FUJII, and Toshiko Yonekawa, and young people who will lead the next generation.

The association aims to promote the spread of so, sangen, and shakuhachi, and to promote exchanges between schools of sankyoku, thereby contributing to the promotion of Japanese traditional arts and the development of Japanese music culture. As specific activities, the association mainly conducts public works such as concert programs such as "Nihon no Hibiki" and "Sankyoku Meiryu Concert," education-related programs such as dispatching musicians to schools and giving lessons on Japanese musical instruments to teachers, and training programs for young musicians such as "Sankyoku Encouragement Society" and "Children's Concert." As of the end of fiscal 2013, there were 5,600 members, mainly in the Kanto region.
