Business Overview
How can we improve the viewing environment for art films and documentaries that are hard to get commercial distribution and bring them to future audiences? The three "makers, screeners, and audiences" of film will gather to hold workshops in Indonesia and Japan to consider screening opportunities for diverse films and audience development. Independent films from Indonesia and Japan will be shown along with the workshop. In the first part, Indonesian film screeners will visit Japan, visit mini theaters in Japan, and hear from relevant people and screeners. Independent films from both countries will be screened and an international debate will be held on the theme. In the second part, Japanese screeners will visit Indonesia to show Japanese films in Yogyakarta and Jakarta and discuss themes with local audiences. The community of independent filmmakers, screeners, and audiences will work together to address challenges, strengthen communities, and create future film audiences.
