Business Overview

It will hold a dialogue between the Artist-in-Residence (AIR), which has functioned as a social device to promote and enlighten water-based woodblock prints, and independent print studios. ■ Dialogue between print studios and residences (1) Print studio/AIR staff meeting The staff in charge of management and planning of AIR and print studios, which provide places for print production overseas, will gather to discuss future mutual exchange programs. (2) Presentations and exchanges by people from studios and AIRs in various countries who participated in the Open Forum "Studio/AIR of the World". (3) Exhibition of print works from print studio/AIR, catalog showcase "Inter-nation & Interpretation" Through the experience of different environments (studio and AIR), expansion of expression by new inspiration and exhibition of "Omotegami" (rephrased works) born from training of technique. Various catalogues related to aqueous engraving are exhibited and introduced. (4) Dialogue between paper makers and print makers/Exhibition and sale of paper. For water-based printmaking, the selection of an appropriate printing paper (washi) as a support for the expression is an important issue for the printmaking artist. At the same time as experiencing various print paper exhibitions, the dialogue between the artist and the paper maker will be held.

[International Committee of the International Woodblock Printing Conference]
Since 1997, the AIR program (Nagasawa Art Park) has been held for foreign artists, and 136 people from 30 countries have completed the training. The International Committee of the International Woodblock Printing Conference (IMC International Committee) will be organized by specialists from overseas art universities who have mastered the water-based woodblock printing technique at the Nagasawa Art Park.
The first international woodblock print conference was held in June 2011. As an organization working to disseminate and enlighten water-based woodblock prints overseas, it aims to improve knowledge of techniques, tools, and materials by networking experts in each country.
