FY26 Term I Creation Grant [Single-Year Grant Program]

Business Overview
This is a "performance" that further develops the "The Rotators" project that Ujino has been working on since 2004, mainly in the field of art, and integrates expressions that deal with time and space into a stage work performed at a theater. A tool to expand human abilities = Machine theater centered on "sound sculpture," where motor equipment that "dances" beyond human power (sometimes with fear) and the pleasure of techno sound by machine sound coexist. Against the background of the consumer society in Japan in the late 20 century, which formed the artist's identity, The Rotators refers to Western "contemporary art" that began in the early 20 century with the question of "how individuals should face the industrializing world," and dismantles/reconstructs the cultural context and technology of industrial products in the current globalized, post-industrial society in a unique way. The word "inertia" in the title refers to the inertia of the force that causes the motor to rotate.
