Profile

[Organization name]
It was formed in 2001 by Yasujo FUJITA, a director, Shino KURAISHI, a poet and critic, and Tomoko ANDO, an actor of the Gentengyo Theater (presided by Shogo OTA). Since then, for more than 10 years, ARICA has been exploring the intimate relationship between sound, objects, devices, and space in a completely original way that is not always governed by the meaning of speech. It is a unique company in the world that seeks to create theater as a true comprehensive art, liberating theater from literary "theater of meaning." Won the Best Solo Performance Award at the Cairo International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2005.
