Business Overview
It was planned as the first work to commemorate the 380 year anniversary of the Yuki-za Theater, and was written by Yukikazu KANO of Hanakumishibai for another theater company for the first time, based on "Ningyo-zukuri" from "Hanshichi Torimonocho" by Kido OKAMOTO. Paying attention to the friendship between Kido OKAMOTO and Magosaburo YUKI the Ninth, the stage was set in a playhouse where Magosaburo YUKI the Eighth, who lived during the turbulent period from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, acted as the proprietor. At the Yuki theater at the end of the Edo period, before the opening day of the stage play 'Kagamiyama Kyu-nishiki-e,' puppeteer Tachibanacho suddenly dies of food poisoning. However, when Hanshichi begins to investigate Tachibanacho's death suspiciously, he finds out that the murder was the result of a complicated tangle of threads of love-hate and fateful ties surrounding Tachibanacho. The puppets on the stage become murderous and show bizarre movements, and their sad jealousy leads to further tragedy. The truth is ... The whole stage was performed with a live performance of Gidayu narration composed by Entaro TSURUZAWA, and a play within a play called "Kagamiyama Kyu-nishiki-e" was included, creating a luxurious stage in which the pillars of the Yuki Theater, "classic" and "new," were integrated.
